Soha Ali Khan calls weight loss injections serious medical treatments requiring supervision.

Actor Soha Ali Khan has lauded comedian Aishwarya Mohanraj for candidly speaking about using Mounjaro as part of her weight-loss journey. The conversation has sparked fresh debate around the growing popularity of prescription medications such as Mounjaro and Ozempic.

Weight loss remains one of the most common health goals globally. While traditional methods focus on diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes, certain prescription drugs have recently gained attention for their role in managing weight under medical supervision.

Soha Ali Khan’s Reaction

On February 11, Soha Ali Khan took to Instagram to appreciate Aishwarya Mohanraj for being transparent about her experience.

“So finally someone said it. They lost a ton of weight not just by eating right or working out, but by taking Mounjaro. And I think it takes great courage to speak the truth,” Soha wrote.

She also highlighted Aishwarya’s appeal to the public not to seek medical advice from influencers, but to consult qualified doctors before considering such treatments.

“Ozempic and Mounjaro aren’t weight loss trends. They are serious medical treatments, and they are only meant for certain people,” Soha noted.

The actor further acknowledged that weight management is complex and cannot always be reduced to willpower alone. Factors such as hormonal balance, insulin resistance, PCOS, thyroid function, and metabolism may significantly influence outcomes.

“Injections can help, but they are serious, and they have side effects. They need tests and medical supervision,” she added, encouraging people to focus on medical necessity rather than speculation.

Podcast Episode To Explore The Science

Soha also announced that an upcoming episode of her podcast All About Her, releasing on February 13, will explore the topic in depth. The episode will feature endocrinologist Dr Ambrish Mithal and nutritionist Dr Juhi Agarwal, who will discuss the science, risks, and common misconceptions surrounding these medications.

Are Mounjaro And Ozempic The Same?

Although often grouped together in public discourse, Mounjaro and Ozempic are not identical drugs.

According to medical sources such as WebMD:

  • Ozempic (Semaglutide) is a GLP-1 receptor agonist prescribed primarily for adults with type 2 diabetes, particularly those with established cardiovascular disease.
  • Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) acts as both a GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist and is also approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

Both medications work by mimicking gut hormones that regulate blood sugar and appetite. They help increase insulin production, lower blood glucose levels, and slow gastric emptying, which may reduce hunger.

However, these drugs are prescription medications intended for specific medical conditions and require proper screening, dosage regulation, and ongoing supervision by healthcare professionals.
