A mum who lost an impressive seven stone using the weight-loss medication Mounjaro has revealed an unexpected downside of her transformation — higher energy bills.
Emilly, who shared her experience on social media, says the one thing she misses about being overweight is how much warmer she used to feel. According to her, weight loss has left her feeling cold almost constantly, resulting in an increase of around £70 per month on heating costs.
“I Spend My Life Freezing Now”
Emilly explained that she went from weighing 16 stone and wearing a size 22 to nine stone and a size 6–8 in under a year. While she describes the transformation as life-changing, she admits that the physical changes have come with unexpected lifestyle adjustments.
“I spend my life freezing now,” she said, adding that she rarely needed extra heating before losing weight.

An Unexpected Side Effect of Weight Loss
Health experts note that significant weight loss can reduce the body’s insulation and alter metabolism, which may make people more sensitive to cold temperatures. For some, this means layering clothing or increasing indoor heating — especially during colder months.
Emilly says she never anticipated missing anything about her previous weight, but the warmth it provided has become a surprising point of nostalgia.
Life After Mounjaro
Despite the higher energy bills and constant cold, Emilly remains positive about her journey and the impact it has had on her confidence and health. She says the benefits of weight loss far outweigh the drawbacks, even if it means budgeting more carefully for heating.
Her story has sparked conversation online, with many others who have lost large amounts of weight sharing similar experiences.
