Sanya Malhotra reflects on fitness and discipline after WPL performance

Actress Sanya Malhotra recently reflected on the importance of fitness and discipline after delivering a high-energy performance during the Women’s Premier League (WPL) Eliminator. Being surrounded by elite female athletes made the moment deeply meaningful for the actor, prompting her to revisit her own journey with fitness and self-discipline.

Calling the experience unforgettable, Sanya shared that performing at the WPL felt truly special. “The energy of the crowd was unreal, and it felt incredible to be part of a space that celebrates women in sport,” she said.

The actress revealed that training like an athlete for her films has significantly changed her perspective on fitness. Drawing from her experience of preparing for Dangal, where she trained intensely for over a year, Sanya said the discipline required during that phase still influences her lifestyle today.

“I have trained like an athlete for a year for a film, and it completely changed my outlook on fitness and discipline. Even now, I try to match that life,” she shared.

Sanya went on to praise women athletes, calling them “superheroes” for their dedication and consistency. “The kind of routine and discipline they follow is extraordinary. I feel grateful to have a platform where I can be inspired by them and, hopefully, inspire others too,” she said.

Speaking about performing in a stadium setting, the Mrs actress added that it was one of the most fulfilling moments of her career so far. “This was the first time I came off stage feeling so confident about my performance. The crowd was amazing, and performing in such a massive stadium felt incredible.”

Beyond fitness, Sanya also spoke passionately about empowerment and self-belief. She shared that watching women excel—whether on the sports field or in the film industry—motivates her to keep improving and to represent women authentically through her work.

“I want women to be unapologetically themselves. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something—ever,” she said, offering advice to aspiring athletes and young women alike. “Be confident, try everything you want to try, and believe that nothing is impossible.”
