Actor Ayesha Khan has spoken out strongly against the misuse of artificial intelligence, highlighting how AI-generated morphed images of celebrities are becoming increasingly common on social media. The actor revealed that she has personally come across manipulated visuals featuring herself, admitting that seeing such content is deeply upsetting and disturbing.
Ayesha Khan on the ‘scary’ misuse of AI
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Ayesha addressed the alarming rise of AI-generated content and how casually such technology is being misused online.
Calling the trend frightening, she said that the normalisation of AI manipulation is dangerous. “The AI thing that has started is very scary. You’ve made a whole app to sexualise women on the internet,” she said, adding that she struggles to process how real such altered visuals can look.
Recalling one such incident, Ayesha revealed that a picture of her with filmmaker Vijay Ganguly was transformed into an AI-generated video showing them hugging. “I had to tell people that this has never happened,” she shared, explaining how misleading and invasive such content can be.
She further noted that many morphed images of her circulating online appear extremely realistic, making it difficult for people to identify what is fake. According to her, “It’s sad how most people would not know that it’s AI.”
On consent, paparazzi culture and viral clips
Ayesha also spoke about the lack of consent involved in paparazzi videos and viral clips. She stressed that capturing and sharing someone’s private or uncomfortable moments without permission is wrong.
“People don’t understand consent. You can’t do these things without asking,” she said, adding that while some know it’s inappropriate, such clips are still widely circulated.
However, the actor clarified that not all paparazzi behave the same way. She acknowledged that many photographers respect boundaries and refrain from posting images when she communicates discomfort, calling them “good people” who listen when asked not to share certain visuals.
