Shararat star Ayesha Khan has emerged as one of the most talked-about performers following her energetic dance number in Dhurandhar. The song, choreographed by Vijay Ganguly and featuring Krystal D’Souza alongside Ayesha, has turned into a viral favourite, helping Aditya Dhar’s film break records and become one of Bollywood’s biggest releases.
While Ayesha was also seen in Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 starring Kapil Sharma, it was Dhurandhar that gave the 23-year-old actress a major breakthrough. Her performance in Shararat especially struck a chord with audiences, thanks to its now-iconic hook step.
Ayesha Khan reveals she was on her period during the shoot
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Ayesha opened up about the challenges she faced while filming the song. She revealed that the two-day shoot was physically and emotionally exhausting, made tougher as she was on her period at the time.
“It was two days of shoot and extremely hectic. I was on my period, and you’re not at your best physically. You feel bloated and tired. Kaash main apne best par hoti,” she shared. Ayesha added that the set was crowded and intense, with multiple sequences, including a wedding scene in the background, being shot simultaneously.
She further said, “We were dancing nonstop, our bodies were aching, and I felt completely overwhelmed. Maybe because of exhaustion and my periods, my emotions took over and I cried. But those were khushi ke aansu.”
Internet praises her honesty and dedication
Ayesha’s candid confession quickly resonated online. Social media users praised her professionalism and commitment, especially for delivering such a high-energy performance despite physical discomfort.
Comments ranged from “Periods mein bhi aisi energy — respect!” to “You owned the screen despite the pain.” Many called her honesty refreshing and inspiring.
On comparisons with Nora Fatehi and Tamannaah Bhatia
With Shararat gaining massive traction, Ayesha has also been compared to established dance icons like Nora Fatehi and Tamannaah Bhatia. Responding to the comparisons, she said she feels nothing but admiration for them.
“I would never compare myself to Nora or Tamannaah. I’m in awe of them. They are incredible women doing amazing work. Nora does things I could never do,” Ayesha said, adding that she sees these comparisons as love rather than competition.
Dhurandhar recently premiered on Netflix and has topped streaming charts in multiple countries. The makers are now preparing for Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, scheduled to release on March 19, 2026.
